Nervous System
Lemongrass essential oil has an uplifting and refreshing aroma, which may prove helpful with low energy states and exhaustion. It could also be supportive of the nervous system when dealing with low mood, anxiety, stress and tension.
Immune System
May be beneficial as a support in convalescence and chronic weak immunity states. Could assist with the management of fevers and infections. It may also support depleted energy levels as a result of illness.
Skin
This essential oil is thought to have cleansing and deodorising actions which may be useful with various skin conditions such as open and blocked pores, oily or problem skin and excessive perspiration. It reportedly may help with repelling insects, fleas and lice and has been used throughout history for this very purpose.
The following ways to use the essential oil should help you to get the most benefit from it.
For use with the Nervous System
Lemongrass essential oil is a great addition to an aromatherapy room spray, not only does it’s deodorising properties make for an aromatic natural air freshener, but Lemongrass may be helpful in supporting the nervous system.
Aromatherapy Energising Room Spray
For household use
- Your chosen essential oils
- An empty dark glass spray bottle to hold 100 ml blend and a little extra for the essential oils.
- 100 ml distilled or spring water
- Less than 1tsp grain alcohol (this is to preserve and dilute the mixture)
Method
- Add the alcohol into the glass bottle
- Then add the essential oils and shake to mix.
- Put the lid back on and allow this mixture to sit for at least 1 hour
- Finally, add the water and shake well.
- Always shake again before each use.
- Please test surfaces before use to avoid any damage.
For use with the Immune system
Diffuser Method
Diffusing Lemongrass essential oil into your environment can be particularly beneficial when there is sickness in the home.
Add between 3-8 drops (depending on room size) of Lemongrass essential oil to the surface of the water in your diffuser. Or onto the pad in fan-driven vaporisers. Replenish as needed. May be combined in a blend with other essential oils up to the maximum amount of drops. Blends well with most other essential oils.
For use with the skin
Refresh Facial Oil
Using Lemongrass essential oil in your handmade facial oil could encourage healthy clear, balanced skin.
The dilution ratio will be up to a maximum of 1% for facial use (10 drops in 30ml) of carrier oil. Jojoba carrier is an excellent choice when working with oily or congested skin as it may help with unblocking pores and balancing sebum production.
Non-toxic. Avoid use on hypersensitive or damaged skin and infants. Do not use above 2% (10 drops in 25ml). Always buffer for bath use.
